One final attempt: Data speeds after throttling far below 2g

Postby Hefficide » Fri Aug 08, 2014 12:13 am

This post represents my fourth attempt this week to resolve a data speed issue. So far nothing suggested has worked. I've spent a substantial amount of time on the phone with tech support over the course of two calls. The first representative was rather rude and flatly told me that after 3 gigs I would be throttled to any speed my phone got. The second CSR was friendlier but instructed me to alter my APN settings to a configuration that added no speed and caused all web pages other than Google to refuse to load due to certificate issues.

My previous post here led me to a private chat where I was told my data speed would be upped in the short term to allow time for trouble shooting. That boost in speed never materialize.

I was told that I am supposed to be throttled to 64 KBs ( not even 2g by most standards ) - but I could live with that. I just tested my speed with Ookla and am downloading at a mind numbing 3.2 KBs. I seem to average about 7 KBs post throttling and have for the past 4 or 5 months.

Enough is enough. I am unfathomably and sincerely frustrated with this entire situation. I tend to surpass my data limit about halfway through the monthly cycle which means I've been getting far less than I've paid for for roughly half of my time with Straight Talk.

I am not attempting to get over on your system or policies. I simply want my phone to work as it is supposed to.

My renew date is rapidly approaching. If this problem cannot be quickly solved and satisfied I fully intend to seek service with another provider.

Apologies for being terse but I truly am deeply disappointed and frustrated.

Thank you in advance for any assistance rendered.

I'm irritated... I JUST paid for my service again, after accidently letting it run out by one day last month, figured "Oh, well I guess it's re-registering my 3G stuff, so this month will be slow" and now this month I paid it and I am throttled RIGHT OFF THE BAT! My... GOD! If this isn't fixed, I'm leaving this service, I don't need my phone as it is, I just have it to shut everyone the hell up in my life about "Oh you NEED A cell phone!"

I figured this was a good plan but with no fast 3G even AFTER JUST HAVING STARTED A NEW MONTH!? I still download stuff at 7 KB/s and youtube fails to even load up, or even a webpage.  :x
