I'm having the same issue. Just bought a Straight Talk iPhone 5 16GB. Spent $800 for the phone and service. No data connection whatsoever. What's worse: I have received NO help from this forum. No response from "administrators" or "moderators". Just 0 new messages. If Straight Talk can't handle basic technical support for a customer who just spent $800 with them, for shame. Here is my original post, which I have now posted in more places on this forum than I can count.

Ok well I've tried posting twice already...maybe 3rd (or 5th....??) time is the charm for getting a response from ST. I guess my previous posts have evaporated into subspace or something...because I can't find them ANYwhere, even when I try to "view my posts". It says I have none. SO: here we go for a THIRD TIME. I bought a NEW iPhone 5 DIRECTLY from Walmart...it was SPECIFICALLY FOR StraightTalk. There was no switching of SIM cards or switching of carriers. Basically, I replaced my old ST phone with a new ST iPhone5 (and upgraded from $30/month plan to $45/month plan).
I was able to get the ST service working on the phone by calling the provided number. I was able to activate/set up the phone via my wifi connection at home (and iTunes). I was thrilled. Until I left my house the next morning. As soon as I tried to use the internet (NOT on wifi), the phone says "Could not activate cellular data network, You are not subscribed to a cellular data service". The phone is showing "TFW 3G" on the top toolbar...and there are plenty of service bars. I tried resetting network settings--this did nothing. I have latest update (iOS 6.0.2)...doesn't matter. I can make/receive phone calls/texts, but I can not do ANYthing online unless I'm on a wifi network. It's like I have an $800 iPod 16GB. Not cool ST. I've tried calling customer service. After being transferred 3 different times, the guy I finally ended up with said I should try turning off wifi on the phone (even though I wasn't on a wifi network at the time). This did nothing.
I would appreciate some sort of response or acknowledgment from ST. I keep reading something about having to post "5 times" before getting a response. I'm not sure what the purpose/point of that is, but I'll play ball. Here ya go....X 5.

I am having the 100% exact same problem and cannot get a resolution. About to take this thing back to Walmart and dispute the ST monthly charge with my credit card company. After 3-4 hours, last night for a bit data service did work. Couldn't figure out exactly what. I've erased all content and settings, reset network settings, dialed *22890 multiple times and nothing. At one point, after doing ANOTHER reset network settings is when it worked with the ST rep on the phone. But, today back to nothing.

I'm having the exact same problem. When I initially activated the new Walmart/Straight Talk iPhone 5 it had some problems and after being passed around and calling Straight Talk several times, I was put on hold for over 8 hours and my home phone battery ran out of juice. Next day I did finally manage to get someone who could fix the problem after completely erasing the phone and calling *22890. It worked for about 4 or 5 days until the new version of iOS came out (6.1)... since that update I have no data connection.

I spent over 2 hours on the phone yesterday with a Straight Talk support person and erased the phone at least 3 times and did the calls to *22890... with no success. They just gave up after 2 hours and claimed they were sending me a text message which never arrived (though I have exchanged text messages with others and know that is working.) The support person seemed to be following a script and when the iPhone and/or iTunes didn't behave as expected in the script, they were unable to come up with anything else. If I had to guess, the script was written before iOS 6.1 was released and the responses are now different after the phone has been updated. Unfortunately, it's not possible to go back to a prior release of iOS (Apple won't allow it.)

I will note that my General>About>Carrier is set to "TFW 14.0" and I suspect that and the Verizon provisioning are probably out of sync in some way. I'm really out of patience at this point. I've owned 3 different iPhones now and this has been the only bad experience I've had with one... I understand that Walmart and Straight Talk are new to this game, but to say I'm frustrated is beyond understatement.
