Nokia E5 sim card not valid

Nokia E5 sim card not valid

Postby Misternef » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:01 am

Sir or Madam:

Yesterday, I received my refurbished Nokia E5 in the mail and my service card that I had ordered last Thursday. After I had charged the phone I went to turn it on to activate it. I was halted by the message "SIM card not valid". I could not proceed to the menu, and pressing keys told me that I could only use the phone for "Emergency Calls Only". So, I started researching the issue. I found where one person was given the resolution to go ahead and register the phone through the website and it would clear this issue up. Well, I did just that. I registered the phone through the straighttalk.com website. I still got the same error after shutting the phone off and turning it back on. The website suggested I wait one hour and try again. I did, and I've tried again several times since. I sent a support email and received an automated response that said I would have my issue resolved within 6 hours. That email was sent to me at 8:39 p.m. CST. It is now 5:29 a.m. CST (nearly 9 hours), and I haven't had any further response from customer support on my issue. My phone continues to give me the same "SIM card not valid" message. On my account page it shows that I have a phone number and my $45 card was successfully activated during registration which means that I have wasted it if this is not resolved. The automated email told me that my email was forwarded to the "E-mail Response Team" for resolution. Could you please check on this to see if that is indeed the case. Could you please ask them to send me a resolution to my issue? I'd rather fix this problem through email or here in the forums rather than over the phone. Thank you for your time.

Obligatory posting so I can send message. Another post so I can reply to a private message. It seems like there could be a better solution than forcing people to post 5 times, and wait for all those posts to be approved before they can reply to a private message. Don't you guys have my email address? Also, couldn't you simply find the email I sent with all the details of my problem? Is this really Straighttalk's forums or a scam site?

In case others come here having the same issue I urge you to check to see if the number on the back of your SIM card matches that of your activation card. Mine didn't, and now I have to wait another week for a new SIM card to be shipped to me. Also, check this before you register your phone. I registered my phone online with my $45 unlimited card at the same time. I will have lost a lot of time from that card by the time I can actually use the phone. If I hadn't already ordered a case and data cable for this phone I'd be tempted to just go out and buy another phone today. I'm quite depressed, and I feel stuck in the situation. It's the last time I ever order a refurbished phone to save some money.

TLDR: Check that the number on the back of your SIM card matches the number on your Activation paperwork before you register your phone.

I got my new SIM card in the mail today. I tried to reactivate my phone with the new SIM card via the website as the instructions said I could, but it would not allow it saying that the phone was already active. I then called the support phone line and went through several steps including giving them the new SIM number. I was told to wait 5 minutes then turn the phone off and back on. I was assured the phone should be active between five minutes and one hour. Well, several hours have passed and I am still restricted to emergency calls only. The only improvement is that I can access the phone's menus now.

I sent Elle a new private message here, and I hope this is resolved overnight. I have to go to sleep because I get up for work at 2 a.m.. If the phone isn't fixed by Thursday I feel there is no other option than to go with another company for pre-paid phone service. This has been a tremendous nightmare.
