I get the error message "We are sorry, the Serial Number you entered is associated with another account or is already active."

I upgraded to a new phone for the wife and now I want to start a straight talk account on her old phone but it is showing her current phone number on it and when i try to activate it says it is associated with another account. I just need the phone activated with a brand new number....help?
