520 and internet away from wifi

Hello I have the 520 (AT&T) and I can make calls no problem but the only way I can get internet is if there is wifi.When I was setting up my phone I was given new apn settings but those don't seem to get me anyplace.I make sure to reset my phone after also but still no luck.Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
