Unlimited liars!!

Unlimited liars!!

Postby furiousbob » Fri Mar 30, 2012 6:02 pm

I have been a straight talk customer for 4 years now. Like any service I have purchased there are good and bad things, but I tend to keep it because the good outweigh the bad. That may be coming to an end.

One of the main attraction points for this phone to me was the "unlimited" package. I recieved a call today from the good old boys at straight talk telling me that I am in danger of getting my interner shut off on my phone due to high useage. I replied, "Dont I have the unlimited plan?" Their answer? ----- "Yes, but it only applies to GPS and maps"................ WTH????? This is their, arguably, biggest selling tool in customer recruitment. Just try to google straight talk and you will plainly see that THEY ADVERTISE "UNLIMITED TALK, TEXT, AND WEB ALL FOR ONLY 45$ DOLALRS A MONTH!!!!" So when did the definition of unlimited change and why wasn't I notified????

In short, the customer service rep was VERY RUDE in her explination of the situation (when I could even understand what she was saying in her broken english) "you need to check terms conditions. you read. you read" "Not my problem" I actually had to tell her that I had graduated college and was not stupid and to stop being rude. however she did tell me that she ws not a rude people!!!!!

I feel as if I have been lied to and cheated. I dont like that.

Hi furiousbob. My name is Straight Talk John and I will be addressing your concern. Though we offer unlimited browsing but not to the extent that customers can use their phone as a modem for their Laptops or Personal Computers. Customers must understand that this kind of usage will have a great impact on the network and service level and may result into system issues. Please refer to Straight Talk’s Terms and Conditions paragraphs 6 and 7.

It does not happen in our end only. All service providers in the US set an actual limit on data usage in order to maintain the functionality of their systems.

Hope these helps. Thank you!
John

So then....what IS the limit for internet usage? I have seen TONS of people complaining about the same thing on here, all being told that users can't use their ST phone as a modem, etc and the customers replying that they aren't. Soooo....what is the limit? How many minutes a month is allowed? How much time consecutively?

That's a good question I'd like to know an answer to as well. I use the internet quite a bit and it is because of the "Unlimited" web browsing that I went with Straight Talk verse's other companies.

As someone who has not yet (but damn near) bought a Straight Talk phone I have to say that when I see important questions like this one ignored, that really could sway someone into becoming a customer or not, it makes me hesitate a bit in "buying in." Any response at all?

Hi furiousbob. My name is Straight Talk Anne. Sorry that you’re having a problem. I’m going to try to help you now.
We need to take this issue offline so I can address it further. I’ll contact you directly at the e-mail address you provided when you signed up for this forum. Thanks.

I have to say that I HATE how almost every question that gets asked here is taken "offline" to answer. There were follow up questions in this thread based on the original issue but they have been completely ignored. That kinda stinks.

The argument that "the other providers do it so it's ok" argument is a horrible stance to take for any company. Especially one that relies heavily on customers being satisfied.
Then there is the issue of the new line of "act like your rich" commercials that have been airing that say verbatim "unlimited EVERYTHING" when the man is describing the service.
So not only are you misrepresenting the service by stating it is unlimited then covering yourselves in fine print but Straight Talk is also blatantly lying in their promotional material in order to bring in customers (which they then brag on their blog about all the new subscribers).
Now don't get me wrong, I am not a hater. There are 4 ST users in my family and 3 of us use the $45 unlimited plan and have never received any warnings. But that is because we really don't have the nicer phones that would warrant going online much. However I am looking at upgrading to an Android phone and my research has brought me here. The lack of a public response is a definite red flag that has me wondering if a contract isn't the way to go in order to get a phone that isn't years old or lacking in features.
Get our trust back Straight Talk (may require firing the PR dept) and make us love you again!

This is a forum. Why did the answer have to be answered offline? I too am just days away from my first ST purchase (leaving Verizon) The opening posters question and the following questions by other posters are questions that people like me, a potential new customer would like to know the answer to before buying.

I wouldn't normally come to a forum like this except to look to see if my question(s) could be answered. (I am currently waiting on approval on a post for a previous question)

Browsing, to see if by some odd chance another ST user/forum member might have already asked a question, that I may not have thought of yet, (like this one) can be very informative to a person like myself, a possible, new customer.

I do still have time to change my mind and go with AT+T go phone. I don't HAVE to go with Straight Talk. I wanted to. I may still, but now I have doubts.

If you have good customer service, I promise, you will have good customers. Taking a question offline to answer it, is not considered good customer service in my book. Customer service is everything. That is the main reason I switched from AT&T to Verizon. Customer Service rocks with Verizon. (I am leaving over something that happened to the tower in our area and now we can no longer make or receive phone calls.)

Ok, I am done rambling. I just hope that you guys learn how to take care of your customers. Because without your customers, you don't have anything.
