Samsung Galaxy Poor signal

I just bought my wife the samgung galaxy, and the phone signal is good at home, but when she goes to work 5 miles away she gets no signal, is there anything that can be done to fix this?

I get a max of 2 bars in my house but once I drive down the road or even pull out of the driveway my signal is fine. But I can not even talk on my phone in the house due to the signal strength of the samsung galaxy phone.
I own my own business and it really puts a damper on things when I cant talk on my phone and have access to my work files at the same time.
Is there anything I can do!!!!
