Moved out of primary zip code area, now have spotty signal

Recently I moved to a new town, and ever since then my cell service/signal has been spotty. If I get a call, 9 times out of 10 the call gets dropped. If it doesn't get dropped, unless I'm standing/sitting just right (outside, mind you), the reception is extremely choppy. The friends that I'm living with are also on Straight Talk, but they have excellent signal/service. We have come to the conclusion that I must be running off of a different cell tower than they are, especially after we traveled to another town where I had service but they did not. Is there a way to improve my signal/service? (I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and they have Samsung S3's.)
