"You Are Roaming" Messages - Unable to make calls

I have a Droid Mini, and I cannot make or receive calls. When attempting to make a call, I get the "You are roaming" message. I'm not seeing the roaming icon on the status bar. Also, I am in service area, according to the service area map. I work out of town away from my family, and it is very important that my wife and children can reach me at all times, and vice versa. I need help ASAP!

I have the newer Straight Talk LG Treasure phone and I am also having this problem.When I am in an area with weak or no verizon tower service and attempt to make a call my phone gives me a message that I am roaming,when this happens there will be a little upside down pyramid on the toolbar.I called ST customer service and was first told that this problem was not possible because ST did not support roaming but I finally convinced them that it was happening.The they proceeded to have me do the whole remove sim card and reboot phone thing.I did this a couple of times with a couple of customer service reps and was asked both times to call them from the area that I was getting this roaming message from. When I ask how I was suppose to call them when my phone would not let me on the ST network to make a call I did not get a reasonable answer.So I started doing a little research and have found these things in common with this problem,I was using a Samsung Core Prime phone before this LG and it gave me the option of turning off the 4G LTE feature and use only 3G towers,the LG Treasure does not have this option because it is suppose to automaticaly switch to 3G if a 4G tower is not in range. I live in a rural area with very limited 4G service so I think this is the main problem. Now when I first started having this problem I would have to shut down the phone and restart it when I got back in an area that I knew had a signal because the ST phone would not automatically detect the tower. After much anger and some experimenting I discovered that I can now go to my option menu and turn on and activate the "airplane mode" on the phone and then turn it off and my signal would return every time.This process is much quicker than rebooting the phone.I hope this will help other users having this problem and I still believe it is a 4G LTE problem with the phones.

I am having the same problem I did the chat with customer support they were no help at all can we get some more information on how to fix this i am in a area with good signal I have data and texting but I get the you are roaming to make a call purchase a pin or press 2 message this should be fixable. On my phone about phone status is says not roaming extended network.

Ive recently just posted about my phones problem ..... it doesnt allow me to make calls or txt and says to purchase an american pin to make these calls. Ive noticed alot of other people with the same post Has anyone purchased an american pin so they could use their phone ?? Does that even work ??? Or is that just another way for STRAIGHT TALK and TRACFONE to get more money for NO SERVICE !!! I just dont understand how a company can have a problem like this going on with their product or service and the public doesnt know about it. Until we got this error msg trying to make a call, I never heard anything bad about tracfone or straight talk but now after dealing with their customer service and getting no solution , my opinion of their companys has changed. If I do not get a quick resolution to the problem with the phone service, Im going to make sure that everyone out there knows about this ongoing problem and the ignorance of their customer service. The last solution the customer service technician gave us with our phone was to wait 2 days for them to send us a new sim card, even though the sim card we have is brand new. I dont think that this is going to fix the problem with the phone, but that doesnt help alot when you need a phone for work and you dont have one for two days. Why couldnt they have just provided us with a pin number so we could of used the phone (maybe) until they fixed the problem. Personally I dont expect the new sim card to fix the phone or to get any solutions from customer service. Maybe everyone having this problem should ban together and sue these companies for fraud for the lack of service we paid for and did not receive. If I do not have a resolution to this problem soon il be back on here to post again about this ongoing problem.
