Sprint Galaxy s3 no longer has service after switching to st

I bought a refurbished Sprint Samsung galaxy s3 with the intent to use it on ST. As soon as I got the phone I booted it up and was ecstatic to see 2 bars of service. This was pretty awesome as I live in a zone that seems to only have sprint/AT&T towers. Hence why I bought a sprint phone. I then bought an activation kit for straight talk and activated it online only to have my two precious bars be taken away from me. I now have no service at all. I called customer support and have spoken to 4 or 5 people who essentially told me to do ##72786# over and over again. They also kept asking for a SIM card number, but this phone doesn't even have a sim card slot.
