Poor coverage, but map shows great?!

Poor coverage, but map shows great?!

Postby coffeeboy » Mon Jun 22, 2015 5:15 pm

My family just switched 3 phones over to Straight Talk in the last 2 weeks, one just last night. The Verizon iphone has no problems but the 2 AT&T phones show poor reception and sometimes no reception at all. both the AT&T and Straight Talk coverage maps show excellent coverage here. We are in Iowa, zip code 50273. What could be the problem when the maps show excellent coverage. I do get the 4g lte when I have the coverage. :(

Well, I did do the live chat, they told me to call a certain number for trouble shooting. The individual that answered just told me I was lucky that I could get a signal indoors, well I can't always. What? lucky? Then I insisted he look into it and he asked for another number to call so he could check out my phone. He said he would call right back, over 30 minutes now and never a call back. I am frustrated to say the least. I don't understand how our one byop that was verizon (with not as good of coverage here) has no problem, but the 2 AT&T phones have terrible problem, lucky to get one bar in an excellent area on the map, as all agree at Straight Talk agree. Can anyone assist? :(

UPDATE: Nearly 3 hours later and no call back.

Do you hear this often? Just an example of many many posts on android forums:

Straight Talk full speed but it definitely isn't the same as ATT even though my phone says att. Sometimes can't even get a signal to make a call, lots of problems with texts, horrendous customer service, but at times can get 30 mbps. Very inconsistent.. But their Phillipines and Mexico and India reps will drive you crazy.

I don't mind where the reps are from, but want people who understand the problem. I talk to others in my town and they get good service from AT&T. We are in an "excellent " area for AT&T, but lucky to get one bar indoors anywhere, so something is up there. I will call the number you gave me, just need a rest from Customer Service reps and getting transferred etc.
