iPhone's

Postby Wills1970 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 6:03 pm

Hello. I currently have an Optimus Q with android service through straight talk and if I go about 5 miles outside of my city limits (zip 58401) to the west, I completely lose all service which I really don't like for obvious reasons while traveling. Now that we have the ability to purchase sim cards will I get better service using my iPhone with a straight talk sim card? Also, I have an iPhone 3G, will that phone work if I cut a standard sim to fit or do I need a newer version? If I need a newer one, does it have to be unlocked, jail broken, etc? Will i have full functinality of the iphone and apps also? Thank you in advance for any assistance with this matter.

I have an iphone 3g and am thinking of switching to ST but I am not seeing any really clear explanations on this blog about whether all of the services will work. Can you tell me what I should expect in New York City and suburbs north of the city (10528)? Can I count on any tech support at Walmart when I sign up or will it be up to me to configure, download and add sim cards that are compatible with the network? A full explanation would be most helpful.

I think you need to jailbreak the iphone for MMS and visual voicemail to work. Everything else seems to work fine. I've read there are some tricks involving swapping SIM cards, but that seems to be for the 4S only.

Hi hannibalmoles. You could possibly be far from the nearest tower in your area that is why the service is not that good. Thanks!
