Moving from Knoxville, TN to Laramie, WY

Postby sarahamann » Fri Jun 01, 2012 8:51 am

I am moving from Knoxville, TN to Laramie, WY on July 18. My boyfriend lives in Wyoming and has the new generation iphone, 4g. He is sending me his iphone, 3g. He has had straighttalk for almost a year so I know that the service area is covered. However, when I go onto the website to order the SIM card for the phone and a month of service, it tells me it isn't offered in the Laramie area. I assume this is a glitch but I need to know how to get around it.

My boyfriend said he thinks that he just entered an arbitrary zip code, like Chicago or something. I just need to make sure that I have a (307) area code. This code exists for all of Wyoming I believe.

Thanks for your help. I have the phone coming in the mail today and wanted to go ahead and order the SIM.

Hi sarahamann. I verified the Zip Code and we do provide service with At&T network in the area. Have you already purchased the SIM card using another Zip Code? The availability of the SIM card could be one of the reason why you are unable to puchase that using the Zip Code or the Zip Code has not yet been updated under the BYOP program online. As long as you have network in the area, then it will work. Thanks!

I haven't yet purchased the SIM card online. I am ready to do just that but wanted to make sure I was doing everything correctly. So I will now purchase the SIM and first months service online and check the "att compatible" box. I then check the "regular sim" box and then I will enter my current zip code of 37917. The SIM needs to come to me here (shipping address) but I need a 307 area code. Should I put the billing address as my new Laramie address and the shipping address as Knoxville which is where I am for the next month only?

Thanks. I just want to make it as easy as possible. For work purposes I don't want to have to change my number from 865 to 307. I will continue to keep my current phone as a backup and it will remain an 865 area code.

Hi sarahamann. You can enter the shipping address where you want the SIM card to be shipped. That will not affect the activation Zip Code where you want that activated. Just make sure to provide the correct Zip Code once you received the SIM card for the activation. Thanks!
