Hi mrsduke070112. My name is Straight Talk Stephanie. If your phone does not have the APN option, then that means you will have to unlock the phone so that the option will be updated on it. Then you can already setup the APN settings by following the values posted above. Thanks!

Hi mrsduke070112. Unlocking the phone allows you to use other carriers. Please try to download the iPhone configure utility from Apple's site. Create a new profile in the program with the APN settings that came with your BYOP activation SIM card from and then select install on your phone. Thanks!

You do NOT have to jailbreak to get APNs updated.

I have working internet and MMS. I don't have working SMS (I can send but not receive), but I have created my own thread for that issue. Just wanted to make it clear that if you're able to read text that you can just update APNs on your own and get working data.

First, there is no such thing as changing VPN to APN. They are two entirely different things. The only way to change APN settings on a non-jailbroken phone is to perform a SIM swap, because the stock Straight Talk or AT&T SIMS do not allow you to edit all of the APN settings.

I was able to do this myself, so it is not impossible, but it is time consuming and not something everyone will want to deal with. Here is my topic on the steps I took to make it happen:
