super slow data on iPhone 4

I activated an AT&T iPhone 4 on Straight Talk last week. Since the initial activation, it has felt like my experience on the web is super slow. I currently also have an iPhone 4s on Verizon, which I've been using to compare speeds. When comparing Ookla speed test results between the two phones, the Straight Talk iPhone 4 typically gets faster results, however when loading pages in real life, the 4s is hands down faster. Is this simply the difference between running on a 4 and a 4s, or is there something I need to tweak on the Straight Talk iPhone 4? I am considering purchasing an AT&T 4s, or maybe even a 5, to get 4g speeds, but don't want to put out the money for the phone, if the Straight Talk network is going to let me down.
