The Reality of Straight Talk

Yes, they do throttle your data speed if they think you use over a certain amount of data..... (they won't tell the users exactly what the data downlad useage limit is, for their "unlimited" data plan) - the word around the internet is that Straight Talk throttles you if you use over 2 gig of data in one 30 day period.

they slow your data speed down to next to nothing (throttle) and then you call and complain and they will reset something on their end and your data speed will be decent for one or two days and then back to no speed at all so you call again and go through the same process .... the reps I spoke to are nice enough but apparently they really have no control over really fixing your data speed, all they can do is to do a temporary fix that lasts a day or two.

from what I gather after reading other forums, your data speed really won't go back to normal until your next billing cycle.

Well, this unlimited but not really thing is such a lie. It says unlimited web browsing but I'm unable to facebook or browse forums or use my mobile web for anything, I must have refreshed the page 200 times to get some simple information on a forum. This is insane.

In spite of the unlimited data useage not actually being unlmited, I still think Straight Talk is a good deal for $45 per month..... from what I read on other forums, the general consensus is that straight talk will let you use up to about 2 gigs per month before they throttle your data speed. If this is true, 2 gigs is still pretty good along with unlimited calling and text.

I wish they would be upfront about the allowable data useage so everybody would know ahead of time, and could avoid being throttled as that is not a very nice surprise to get hit with out of the blue.

But, all things considered, still a good deal..... but avoid calling customer service unless you have no choice and then brace yourself for what they put you through.

and I agree..... ! Right now, there is no other pre paid plan out there that can beat straight talk for value for the money but pray that you never have to call customer service :)
