What are the advantages and disadvantages of jail breaking an IPhone 3 gs using straight talk service.

You can get apps for cheaper if jailbroken but you are completely on your own if something goes wrong with the phone.........

You can get cheaper apps and apps that you might not have been able to get before. It's not worth it in the long run as it voids any warranties and if not done right it is very hard to fix.

I am seriously thinking of doing this myself .. I am a Linux user and am used to being able to control my own environment .. even if I am on my own...

Jail breaking has many more benefits than downsides especially if you bought your phone second hand and there is no warranty on it. I myself have never been able to have customer service help me with warranty claims so i generally disreguard them.

Some advice if you do jailbreak, only do so untethered. It is a pain to boot your phone on PC if you accidentally turn it off for any reason.
