WiFi Calling

WiFi Calling

Postby Somoteitbe » Fri Nov 06, 2015 5:48 pm

Hello,

I have an iPhone 6 Plus that is unlocked and I am currently using a GSM (AT&T compatible) sim card in your BYOP. When I go to enroll in Wi-Fi calling, when I enter my phone number and last 4 of the SIM card number it says my phone is not eligible for Wi-Fi calling. I know for a fact this is incorrect. AT&T is supporting the iPhone 6 & 6Plus as well as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

Can you please advise how to get this corrected? I tried chatting customer service and the gentleman assured me once the SIM activated I would be able to use Wi-Fi calling but when I chat back the person has no info on Wi-Fi calling. I am extremely frustrated at this point!!!

I am not going to go through chat again. I have spoke to them 4 times today. One rep said it should be working, the other 3 told me that you didn't offer Wi-Fi calling yet. Haha go figure.

And there is no where on your site that says what phones and SIM's are compatible so that doesn't help at all either!

Hi Judydogan69! My name is Straight Talk Yvonne. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi calling is not supported with the services offered by Straight Talk so any SIM card from our Bring Your Own Phone program won't enable it. Should you need further assistance, you can contact us via private message. I've sent you a private message in your Forum inbox so please check it. The Forum inbox is located at the upper left corner of this Forum beside the User Control Panel. Thanks.

When I go to enroll in Wi-Fi calling, when I enter my phone number and last 4 digits of the SIM card number it says my phone is not eligible for Wi-Fi calling. I know for a fact the iPhone 6 is capable of Wi-Fi calling, so I contacted Straight talk via Chat, and was told that only iPhones sold by Straight Talk support Wi-Fi Calling and that they do something to the phones that make them capable. What's going on? I pay the same rates with BYOP so why don't I get the same support?

Hi there.
I had the same problem today.
I returned to Straight Talk service after a few months using T-Mobile and Google Project Fi service.
My phone is Motorola Nexus 6, a pure Google Android 6.0 phone which has WiFi calling function.
I tried to enroll my phone to get Straight Talk wifi calling service, but just as other reported, it said my phone was not good for it.
I had wifi calling service with the same phone when I was using T-Mobile service.

I chatted with Straight Talk customer service tech support,
and got the answer was: Straight Talk does not support wifi calling service to the Bring Your Own Phone customer.

Is it fair?
We pay the same price but get less service!
Very disappointed!
I think I will go back to other carrier to get wifi calling even VoLTE service.
