Duplicate Text Messages

Duplicate Text Messages

Postby BPattison81 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 8:43 pm

I have an HTC One X+ and I have text message issues. It isn't every text but quite frequently I get the same text multiple times. Sometimes as many as 10 or 15 times. I'm not sure whats causing this. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I really wish you would just post a solution here so people can just fix it without having to register, post, wait, check private messages, and hold a lengthy discussion about it. You've done enough PM troubleshooting that you must have a solution by now. I've been getting duplicate texts once in a while, usually in strings of three or four. Today, I've gotten the same message from my mother nearly 50 times. I tried a battery pull, restart, SIM pull, cache clear, process kill, data clear, and inbox clear, and after all of that, I have another 19 copies of that message taking up space in my inbox. They keep coming every few minutes. I'm reluctant to perform a Factory Reset, because no matter how many times I back up my contacts, half of them get deleted in the process. My service ends tomorrow, and having failed to find a solution to this problem (or any of the other myriad problems I've run into with this phone), I'm not bothering to renew. Hopefully I'll stop getting spammed if I don't have Straight Talk service anymore.

P.S.: I received three more copies just while typing this post. I'm switching to Airplane Mode until tomorrow and using my Assurance Wireless phone. >:/

I do agree that you should post the answer on forum when people have the same issue. I got the same issue with duplicated text messages, and today I received same text over 100 times and still getting it and don't know how to stop. I also tried everything, turning phone off and on, removing battery, clearing messaging data, and so on. Nothing works. When I called straight talk customer service, the representative told me that they never heard about such an issues. Seriously? :) He suggested resetting the phone to factory setting. I am not that stupid and I know that I have that option, but that's exactly what I didn't want to do and that's the reason I called customer service. Thanks a lot! So maybe there is one smart person out there who can give us the answer???
