Issue with service plans

Good afternoon,
I made a mistake when buying a card at walmart and accidentally purchased one that cant work on smart phones. I didn't realize this error until the I was attempting to enter the code and it was rejected. Has anyone had this problem before, what did you do? I really don't want to go buy another card since this one is non-refundable.
