Been a customer since 2014, $45 UNLIMITED. Now no hotspot!!!

Postby pditty8811 » Mon Jul 27, 2020 11:07 pm

Been a customer since 2014, using $45 unlimited text/talk/data every one of those months. Now I get no hotspot!

Does ST want to lose customers?

I'm about ready to leave ST. I have a full year's worth of $45 unlimited paid already on my account. I don't want to repurchase $55 dollar cards just to get hotspot again?!!!

I need this for work. I'm a developer!

Hi pditty8811. My name is Straight Talk Mark. Sorry for the trouble this has caused you. We understand how convenient it is to use your phone as a Hotspot for other devices. However, we do not support tethering or allowing your device to serve as a Wi-Fi for other devices even if it comes with a Hotspot feature with the $45 service plan. You will need to add the $55 service plan so you can use the Mobile Hotspot. For Mobile Hotspot related questions, please text the word HOTSPOT to 611611. Thanks.

I also have been a customer for a long time with straight talk. I am disappointed mobile hotspot stopped working.
I live in a remote area and when my internet goes down in bad weather I need the phone to connect my laptop too.
If I pay for 25GB of data why can't I use it as I please?

I have to say this is the first time I have been disappointed with Straight Talk. This weekend
I plan to investigate what T-mobile has to offer to include mobile hotspot.
I heard your $55 dollar plan includes hotspot but its far to expensive.

Straight talk's pricing is not as competitive as they used to be especially with T-mobiles
new plans.

Very disappointed. This could be the end of a great relationship.

I clicked the link from your private message which brought me to a listing of phone numbers. Called one of the numbers and was told
1) I have to upgrade from the $45 plan to the $55 monthly plan
2) if I have a AT&T sim card (I do) mobile hotspot will not work, (wondering why it worked for all these years)

Both are unacceptable. I have tried my best to stay with straight talk however
after testing out a T-Mobile sim card for a few days now I get the same coverage or better
plus for $40 I get more data (50GB) plus mobile hotspot, WiFi calling and unlimited text
while traveling out of the Country. If I upgrade to their $50 plan (which includes all taxes)
not only do I get unlimited texting outside the USA I also get unlimited data. Both offer
phone calls at 25 cents per minute.

I would have stayed with straight talk if the mobile hotspot continued working but now that
I have seen what T-Mobile has to offer I need a good reason why to stay with straight talk?
