Not Registered with Network

I've had my Samsung Galaxy s 2 (model SGH-S959G) for almost 2years and now all of a sudden I'm getting the following error messages when trying to make calls or send text messages : Not registered with network, No network connection. Callers are getting error messages that say my number is not a working number or the subscriber is not accepting calls. I've called tech support: REMOVE BATTERY WAIT 1 MINUTE REPLACE BATTERY numerous times, Tech support even insulted me by asking if I really knew what my zipcode was? and was told to go stand on a hill someplace.. Regardless of the rude tech support how do I fix the problem with my phone?

I happened to buy a phone from a person on Craigslist I attempted to hook it up on my account and it wasn't "properly scanned at the register " I don't have a receipt and was treated as if I had done something wrong because I purchased a phone on good faith. I its enough to make me consider cancelling my service. Is there anyway I can activate this phone phone? I just refilled and and would prefer getting something from the $100+ I've spent trying to give your company a chance?
