make text default message mode

make text default message mode

Postby DebK » Tue Nov 09, 2010 11:54 am

When I try to send messages, the default seems to be MMS messages. The only way to change this setting is to go into
  • hit [Back] to go back to the message, I can then see 'New Text Message' at the top of the screen.
I have to do this for every text message I want to send. Is there some way to set the phone to 'text 'as a default? I've checked everywhere through the menus and can find no clear option! I am sure that the default was text when I first got the phone, because I remember having to change it to MMS to send pictures. Any help? Thanks, Deb Kearney

Hi Deb. My name is Straight Talk Michael and I will be addressing your question. You may need to reset the phone's settings to fix this issue. For most of the LG phones, you can reset the phone by going to Menu [>] Settings [>] Security [>] enter lock code (last four digit of the phone number, 0000 , or 1111) [>] Reset Default [>] OK [>] Revert [>] you'll be prompted to enter the lock code again. If you could not find these options on the phone, please tell us you phone model so that we can further assist you. I believe this answers your question. It's been a pleasure helping you. Have a good day.

the phone is LG620g. I already tried a master reset, which did not require a code, and resulted in no change. The Security menu has: PIN code request, Phone Lock, Lock if sim is changed, and change codes. The code to change the codes was merely 0000....

Yes, I already tried resetting. That results in clearing all of my personal settings ie: ringtones, etc. But does not result in text message as default message setting.

I do that every time I want to send a text message. Its the only way to send it without it going as the default mms. sms is faster as some of the people I text have to download mms messages - they are not automatically delivered like sms text messages.
