Software update for LG Stylo 2

Why is it that even though Android 6.0 marshmallow is available, straight talk does not allow the phone to update? This is ridiculous to have to buy new phones everytime there is a software update if you want the latest version. Should I just stop spending the $60 a month on service and the $200+ on a phone? I have researched and know that the latest version of Android is available on this phone. Along with the ZTE lever I had before this. I need a solution fast.

Hi Jstax82. Our phones are locked. For our branded Android phones, the software has already been updated and cannot be upgraded to a higher version. It has been branded or modified to our service. If you wish to upgrade your software to a higher version, although we don't recommend it, then this will be at your sole risk. I have wondered this for some time now. I know of at least 2 other non contract carriers that offer this phone with 6.0 out of the box. One of them I know for sure is even selling them for a lower price than I paid.

Hello. From reading other posts the lg stylo 2 from straight talk will never be able to upgrade? I really dont like paying for a phone that wont be able to upgrade and why is this information withheld or not mentioned upon purchase??

StraightTalk Mary Ann please help! I must update this phone's Software to 6.0.* or Straight Talk will be no good to me. The increased memory that this software includes is a must to run Honeywell Apps that I have to have access to on my phone.
