Samsung galaxy s3 on straight-talk

Postby Blue90 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 4:51 am

Hello, I am thinking of purchasing a samsung galaxy 3 by ebay. This phone is a unlocked phone, I believe its from the UK but I am not sure. The link to the phone is -http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S3-S-III-FACTORY-UNLOCKED-S-3-GT-I9300-16GB-GSM-PEBBLE-WHITE-/120925461499?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item1c27b81bfb . I am thinking of getting the 45/month unlimited plan with straight-talk. I am worried that the speeds that I get here (North Dakota, Fargo) wont be enough. I just recently bought my girlfriend a andorid, more specific the andoriod q and at home without the wi-fi on she barely recieves 0.5mb/s. I am worried that i will get bottelnecked by buying the phone when all I will be doing is reaching 0.5/mb's. The phone is quad-baned so it supports HSPA+. ----> GSM/GPRS/EDGE, HSPA+
Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 (Quadband) HSPA+ 850/900/1900/2100 is everything it supports. Can you help me, will I be able to recieve 5mb/s with it? I do notice that when the bars are higher in her signal the speed goes higher of course. But if you can, tell me what I should do...

Sophie: I'm also thinking of getting the international I9300 model and want to know how it will work on Straight Talk. Thanks!

Hi DavidP. As long as it is an AT&T, T-Mobile compatible GSM phone or an unlocked domestic GSM phone, it will work with the BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) Program. To view the program, please visit www.straighttalkSIM.com. Thanks!

Thanks for the response! I'm Milwaukee and am wondering if I would get 3G or 4G speeds. My sister has Google's Nexus on ST and only ever sees 3G in Milwaukee. Would the Galaxy III be any different?

Hi DavidP. StraightTalk supports 3G network only so that will be the data network capability that you will get on the phone. Thanks!

I've been reading up on 3G vs. 4G and there's a lot of marketing BS in there! Does ST support HPSA+ in my area? If so that is sometimes considered 4G.

Have you checked out Kogan? They have a special on the samsung galaxy s3 16gb outright for around $459 or $499 I think. Not a bad buy and certainly saves you some serious coin on going out for a plan of some type.

Just bought brand new in box (not unlocked) Galaxy S3 on ebay for $445 and should have it by 11/6. I can't wait to transfer my number and use the straight talk sim card I bought .... bummer that it won't get 4g though but still an awesome phone to be able to use on straight talk.
