Old phones bricked after using Transfer wizard

Hi guys, this has actually happened to me twice now. My mom and I had the same phone, a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. I got myself a J7 Sky pro a while back and when I did the transfer wizard then, it bricked my old phone. It doesn't even start up anymore. I decided to get my mom the same phone on her birthday. I used Straight talk's transfer wizard to move photos, contacts etc over to her new phone. This has also bricked her old phone, but it at least starts up. The only issue now is that it's stuck on the tracfone logo screen.

I've tried to do a factory reset through the recovery area and even tried to boot into safe mode, but nothing has worked for me yet. It won't even boot me into safe mode, I can only get to the recovery screen.

I want to set this phone up for my dad so he can use Facebook. Is there anything I can do to get this phone to work again? He is only going to use it through wifi, so it won't need service.
