Help with phone

I have a straight talk phone that I don't use, and want to give it to my son. He has a straight talk phone now that is active but the phone broke, so I want to give him the one I am not using. How do I get my phone number off my straight talk phone and put his number on it? I have gone to the website and added my phone to his account and tried calling the activation number *22890 to activate it but it won't work. Please help.
