Moto E - Mobile Network Not Available

When I'm traveling down the highway I get 3 to 4 bars of signal on Straight Talk's plan (technically Verizon). When I try to make a call I get "Mobile Network Not Available". I've got 3 to 4 bars of signal, WTF? This continues all down the highway.

Yes, I've rebooted the phone. Didn't help. Yes, I reprogrammed with *22890. Didn't help.

Is it time to get a real Verizon phone and toss this Straight Talk Moto E in the trash?
