ST - StrttalkHi strttalk. Here is the honest answer. The Bring Your Own Phone program supports phones that are compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile or an unlocked domestic GSM or CDMA phone that operates in 850 and 1900 MHz. Unfortunately, the Verizon Motorola Moto G handset can only be used with the Verizon Prepaid service, for at least the first 6 months of it's service life. It is not an unlocked device. If you were to visit
www.straighttalkbyop.com and enter the MEID of a new Verizon Motorola Moto G, you would be informed that particular device is not compatible with Straight Talk service. Because Straight Talk is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) of Verizon services, it must abide by licensing requirements set forth by Verizon Wireless. The Verizon Motorola Moto G is not compatible with any MVNO provider. And is locked to Verizon only.
It should also be noted that the least expensive Verizon prepaid service plan for the Verizon Motorola Moto G that is comparable to Straight talk service is $60 per month with a 2GB data limit, with additional charges for data used over that 2GB limit, and a .20 per minute roaming charge if you happen to use your Moto G in the areas of the US not primarily covered by Verizon Wireless.
As you can see, bringing your own device to Straight Talk that is unlocked and compatible with Verizon service is a far more economical choice. Or if you purchase the ZTE Majesty™ directly from
www.straighttalk.com you would have a very similar, new phone for only $170 that would be fully compatible with the far more economical Straight Talk service on the Verizon towers. Thanks.
