moto x won't register

ok i have to post 5 times to get an IM. shady. whatever. so i have a moto x and bought a sim card, went through activation process and reboot, tells me i have an unknown number ?? and doesn't detect the cellular signal. i.e. no bars in town. can't talk to a human due to poor customer service, so i'm trying here for help. this is post #1. look out for 2,3,4 &5 so i can get a pm
