No updates for Straight Talk Galaxy S5

So my $449 Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S5 will not be receiving any android updates so I am stuck with 4.4. Samsung says its straight talks responsibility to push updates. All other carriers even pay as you go like Cricket etc receive the android updates. If straight talk does not want to offer the updates that EVERY other carrier puts out for Samsung Galaxy phones then perhaps straight talk should not be able to sell those phones. Perhaps straighttalk should offer everyone that wants the upgrade for S4 S5 or S6 a refund for the phone or perhaps with the many 1000's of angry blogs I read about this issue a class action lawsuit should be brought against them to address this issue. :evil:

That is inaccurate as I called Cricket wireless and they said upon receiving their sim on a byop program my phone would be upgraded to lollipop and that is the phones software so its just your company not pushing it out to the galaxy phones which is why you shouldn't be able to sell them.

I have this issue with my s6. I called and asked for a refund and she said she was getting everything together to give it to me, and then put me on hold and never picked back up. I sat and waiting over an hour. Then I had the other person I spoke with refuse to let me speak to management or tech support

I have this issue with my s6. I called and asked for a refund and she said she was getting everything together to give it to me, and then put me on hold and never picked back up. I sat and waiting over an hour. Then I had the other person I spoke with refuse to let me speak to management or tech support. I have recorded every convo and I'm fixing to sue the hell out of this company If I don't get this straightened out, i have never excepted this kind of service, from anyone. And I will not take it from this company who I just paid $1100 for a phone a prepaid service for 180 to get treated like a piece of garbage

I'm with you Jdogg, they blame Samsung here is part of a chat I had with them:

Zaki U: Hello Steve.

steve: My question is why is it that we aren't able to receive android updates like all other carriers?

Zaki U: I see that you are not getting the updates.

Zaki U: I will help you with the required information.

steve: Straighttalk states that its YOUR responsibility to get outdates to our phones. I told them that it was the carriers who push them out via TA updates.

steve: SO essentially we pay premium price $499 for a phone that has 4.4.2

Zaki U: I completely agree with you Steve, Carrier will push the updates.

steve: Straight talk states they do not push updates that they have to come from you. I have spoken with several different respresenatives.

Zaki U: I have checked the details for you Steve.

steve: And?

Zaki U: I have found the device you are referring to uses Tracfone carrier.

steve: Correct

Zaki U: I would like to inform you that the support for Carrier related phone models is not available with Samsung as the service and support for those models is provided by the Carrier. The support for Carriers like Tracfone, StraightTalk and Net10 is provided by the concerned Carrier and Samsung support do not have the information to trouble shoot the issue. In this regard, I recommend you to contact the concerned Carrier support to get the exact information and trouble shooting to isoalte the issue. I will be more than happy to provide the contact details for you.

steve: I have contacted them several times and they state that its the manufacturer that provides updates not them.

UPDATE: Spoke with Straighttalk and they STILL claim its Samsung's responsibility as they are only the carrier. I informed them that I have spoke with Samsung and even posted a copy of the chat on this forum and they stated your just not understanding that Samsung is responsible for the update. I think there is no other recourse other than to find a higher up contact at Samsung to persuade them to quite allowing Straighttalk to sell the Samsung Galaxy S4-7 series if they will not perform updates like every other carrier.

I have a Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S5 and all of my friends that have the same phone through other carriers have received the marshmallow update why haven't I. I know Samsung sent out the marshmallow update to the carriers already so why isn't the software available for update like it is for everyone else on a different carrier.
