I too have a Galaxy S5. I bought it a few months ago to replace my old I-phone 4 that would not run the newer apps. Now I find out that the S5 came with an obsolete operating system (Android 4.4.2) and there are some newer apps that I can't install. I tried to update, but it says that it has the latest version, which I know is not true. I have tried updating through Samsung, but that doesn't work either because Straight Talk has locked the phone. I have been a happy Straight Talk customer for several years, but this is unacceptable. If I had known I couldn't update the phone I wouldn't have purchased it.

i have the same problem, i have the S6 and it keeps telling me "service unavailable" then it tells me "service update is temporarily unavailable. try again later" it seems like every one is getting the marshmellow update except us..what's the deal with that?oh and on a side note it is the CARRIER to provide the update and NOT the manufacturer, the manufacturer will only warranty the phones HARDWARE and not it's SOFTWARE so yes it is 1000% the carriers responsibility to update the phones OS.

I am soooooooooo disgusted with Straight Talk. As long as I've had my Samsung Galaxy S5.....I have NEVER EVER EVER received one software update. I bought it a few years ago. It came with Android 4.4.2. Guess what? It's STILL 4.4.2. I can't download a LOT of apps because they require at least 5.0. Can't even get the app for my online banking!!!! WTH Straight Talk? And forget about calling customer service. USELESS and they put the blame on Samsung....telling me it is THEIR responsibility to send out updates. BS! You're incompetent and I hope someone opens a class action lawsuit against Straight Talk because quite frankly....I will be the FIRST to sign up! You should be ashamed of yourselves for dishing out garbage! UGH!
