Using sim card in att iphone 3gs

last week I ordered a motorola phone and a $45 unlimited plan card with the intentions of using that phone with a new number. Since that time my daughter has switched to Verizon and given me her ATT IPhone 3GS. Can I use the sim card I receive with the motorola to activate the Iphone?
