Transfer of numbers between two phones

Howdy,
Got my new phone and activated etc. No PROBLEMS!!!

But, the wife wants her phone number on the new phone. .... So, now I need to change these two phones around. I have tried "customer service" (and currently waiting on hold again) . All that the rep managed to do was de-activate my new phone. So, now what?

Oh, and "speaking English" is not just saying the words. The rep was very polite. But, I had to ask over and over for him to repeat and enunciate more clearly.
