Well, apparently you can't do that and keep both of the phone numbers unless you have a third phone to move one of the numbers to. Seems a bit wrong but, I gave up the new number I had started a couple of days ago. And, finally got the two phones switched. It only took a little over an hour of 'talking' with the reps and them talking with their supervisors but, it's done.
I will keep using the service. I just hope that I remember how this was all done. So, I will do it from the internet from the start.
I was pretty worried that we would loose messages and phone numbers as soon as we deactivated a phone and that turned out to be wrong. I still have the info on the wife's old phone. And, I managed to blue-tooth 'push' the phone numbers over. Moving the messages is another issue.
Anyhow, it is done.
